Pears
have been enjoyed for many many years. They make a great snack
as well as jellies and preserves. They will grow and produce best
in well-drained sandy-loamy soil. They will also grow in clay
soil, light sandy soil or dry soil with irrigation. Don’t
over fertilize, this can promote fire blight. We recommend using
a good spray program on pears that includes the use of Fire Blight
spray They like full sun and a Ph 6.0 - 6.5. Plant 15-20 feet
apart. Pears require cross-pollination from different variety.
The number of chill hours needed will be listed by each variety
