Muscadines Top of Page | Fruit Page | Price List

Plant muscadines in well-drained, fertile soil. Requires full sun. pH level 6.0 - 6.5. Plant 20' apart in 10' rows for commercial use and 15' apart and 10' rows for home use. Put on trellis constructed of 6-1/2' post set 2' in ground. Use no. 9 galvanized wire. Never use manure of any kind around young plants. Sawdust, cotton seed mote or peat moss may either slow growth down, damage or kill the plants. Never put commercial fertilizer in hole around roots. Wait until April 1 before fertilizing. First two years of growth clean cultivation is necessary so that growth will be vigorous. Bears 2 - 3 years. (Note: Additional instructions will come with order.)

Pruning Tips: To ensure healthy crops of fruit year after year, the vines must be winter pruned. We begin our pruning on February 1st. Cut canes back off main runner to three joints. Only allow one main runner to go down wire. Only summer prune young vines to set framework of vines.

Requires full sun. Plant vines 8-10' apart on trellis. Plant vines 4-8 inches deep. After growth starts select strongest shoot and let grow pruning off remaining branches. Fertalize the same as muscadine. Bears in 2-3 years


Blackberries Top of Page | Fruit Page | Price List

Upright Blackberries should be planted 3-5 feet apart in full sun. Ph level around 6.0-6.5 is best. The crown (origin of the root mass) should be planted no more than 1/2" below the ground level. Water thouroughly, mulch and fertalize with 10-10-10. Trailing varieties need spacing of 8-10 feet between plants and trellised. More instructions with order. Bears 2-3 years.

Upright Raspberries should be planted 3-5 feet apart in full sun. Ph level around 6.0-6.5 is best. The crown (origin of the root mass) should be planted no more than 1/2" below the ground level. Blueberries-Rabbit Eye Top of Page | Fruit Page | Price List

Full sun in well-drained soil with a pH of 4.5-5.2 does best. If your soil is not acidic, sulfur applications or a planting medium of sphagnum peat moss mixed 50/50 with soil along with the help of acidic fertilizer or compost will suffice. Plant 3-5' apart. Does best with at least two or three varieties for cross pollination. Begin fertilizing in April with azalea food. Bears 2 years.

Well drained, fertile soil in full sun. Broadcast 5lb. of 10-10-10 over a 8x30 area. Rake, till and smooth and let water settle bed. A week or two later lay off two rows four feet apart, two feet from edge of bed. Set plants two foot apart in tows with crown just above soil line. Pinch off blooms first year.

Rich, fertile, loamy soil with good drainage. Ph best 6.0-6.5 but can grow in 5.5-8.5. Can be grown in sandy or clay soil as long as good drainage. Full sun. Apples need cross-pollination with another variety to ensure good crop set. Can also pollinate with crabapples. Plant Standard 25-30' apart, Semi-dwarf 16-18' apart, Dwarf
6-8'apart. Fertilize with 10-10-10. Bears 3-4 years

Asian Pear - Also know as apple pears. Crispy, juicy and tender specialty fruit. Two varieties need for cross pollination. Recommended good spray program. Bears 2-3 years. Full sun. 15' spacing

Standard Pear - Grow and produce best in well-drained, sandy-loamy soil. Will also grow in clay soil, light sandy soil or dry soil with irrigation. Don't over fertilize. Can promote fireblight. Prefer full sun. Ph 6.0-6.5. Plant same distance as apples. Requires cross-pollination from different variety

Requires well drained fertile soil in full sun. Cross-pollination required for proper fruit set. Spacing same as apples. Use 10-10-10 fertilizer. Bears 2-3 years.


Peach Trees Top of Page | Tree Page | Price List

Plant in full sun about 16-20' apart for Standard and 10-15' for Dwarf. pH 6.5-7.0 preferred. All peaches and nectarines are self pollinating and begin bearing approximately 2-3 years old. Suggest annual pruning to maintain vigor since fruit bears on previous years growth. Thinning is reguired to ensure maximum fruit size and quality.

Best in well-drained soil. Plant in full sun preferably or in colder areas on the south side of a building to provide winter protection. Can prune into tree or larger shrub. Self-fruitful. Bears 3 years. Plant 15-20' apart. Water throughout summer and fertilize as needed. Mulching recommended.

Plant in full sun with well drained soil. pH level best at 6.0-6.8. Plant 25'apart for Standard and 15' apart for Dwarf. Tart cherries are self-fruitful but sweet cherries require cross-pollination.

Pecan Trees Top of Page | Tree Page | Price List

Soil should be a deep will-drained sandy loam to sandy clay loam. pH is less a factor with pecans, although 6.0-6.5 is ideal. Pecans get big so allow plenty of space. Spacing of 50'-60' preferred. Pecans are heavy feeders and don't compete well with weeds. Maintnain a clean basin several feet around tree. Starting 2nd year pecans should be fertilized. Bears 5-7 years and bears for 70 plus years with proper care. Plant at least two varieties to insure good pollination.


Oriental Persimmons Top of Page | Tree Page | Price List

Full sun in well-drained soil. Set 25-30' apart. pH 6.0-6.5. To enjoy persimmons the most, allow to ripen at room temperature befor eating, as most varieties tast asringent before they soften. Fruit size of peaches. Bears 2-3 years. Suggest cross-pollination to increas quality of fruit and reduce fruit drop.
