We have put together two excellent plums that are perfect partners for cross-pollination. Both of these Japanese plums bloom at similar times allowing them to properly pollinate each to give you a significantly larger fruit crop.
Methley is one of the best pollinators available and is ideal for the Santa Rosa Plum. Just make sure they are planted within 100-200 feet of each other for proper pollination but remember, the closer they are the better the bee activity.
Methley Plum
– Produces medium size delicious fruit with deep reddish-purple skin.
– The inside flesh is a bright, juicy red to deep crimson in color.
– The flavor is a rich sweet taste, making it excellent for fresh eating, jellies and preserves.
– Very Heavy Producing Clingstone Plum
– Produces from late May to early/mid July.
– Fast Growing tree getting between 10-15 feet in height and produces in 2-3 years.
– Very Adaptable to cold and mild winters. Hardy to Zone 5-9 and only requires 150-250 Chill hours.
– Very Disease resistant and drought tolerant.
Santa Rosa Plum
– Produces large, crimson red to purplish skin.
– The inside flesh is a amber yellow and juicy with a reddish orange color near the skin.
– The flavor is sweet/tart and tangy and a delicious flavor that also has a rich aroma.
– Heavy Bearer Producing Clingstone Plums
– Produces from June through July
– Fast Growing tree getting between 15-20 feet in height and produces in 2-3 years.
– Very Adaptable to cold and mild winters. Hardy to Zone 5-9 and requires 400 Chill hours.
– Very Disease resistant and drought tolerant.
