Red Lake Currant is one of the most popular and dependable red currant varieties, prized for its exceptional cold hardiness, heavy yields, and beautiful clusters of bright red fruit. Although long enjoyed throughout Europe, these flavorful berries are becoming a favorite among American gardeners for their versatility and outstanding performance.
Compact, deciduous shrubs produce impressive 8–10-inch clusters of glossy dark red berries that are easy to harvest. The fruit has a pleasantly tart flavor that is delicious fresh and exceptional for making jellies, jams, syrups, sauces, juices, and desserts. Berries ripen in July.
