White Imperial Currant is widely regarded as one of the finest currants for fresh eating. Its beautiful pearly white, translucent berries develop a delicate pink blush as they ripen and are prized for having the richest, sweetest flavor of all currant varieties.
The fruit is similar in size to Red Lake Currants and is excellent for fresh snacking, desserts, jams, jellies, and baking. This vigorous, disease-resistant shrub is both productive and ornamental, making it a wonderful addition to the home garden or edible landscape.
White Imperial typically begins producing fruit in its second year. Plants grow 5–6 feet tall and 4–5 feet wide. Space plants approximately 6 feet apart for best growth and production.
