Pineapple Pear Tree
The Pineapple Pear is one of the finest pear varieties for the Deep South, prized for its outstanding flavor, heavy production, and exceptional heat tolerance. This vigorous tree produces large, golden-yellow pears with a beautiful red blush that are as attractive as they are delicious.
True to its name, the Pineapple Pear offers crisp, juicy flesh with a unique sweet flavor that hints of fresh pineapple. It’s an excellent choice for fresh eating and is equally delicious for canning, preserves, baking, and homemade pear butter.
A fast-growing tree, the Pineapple Pear begins bearing abundant crops at an early age and can mature to a height of 15–20 feet. It is self-fertile, so it will produce fruit on its own, but planting another pear variety nearby will increase pollination and result in even heavier harvests. It also serves as an excellent pollinator for other pear varieties.
Highly resistant to fire blight and well adapted to warm climates, the Pineapple Pear is a dependable performer that ripens in August.
