AU Producer Plum Tree
The AU Producer Plum Tree is a high-performing Japanese plum variety developed by Auburn University to provide outstanding fruit production, excellent disease resistance, and dependable performance in the South. As its name suggests, AU Producer is known for producing heavy crops of beautiful, high-quality plums year after year.
This early-ripening variety produces an abundance of medium to large, vibrant red plums with firm, juicy flesh and a wonderfully sweet flavor. The fruit is excellent for fresh eating and is equally delicious in jams, jellies, preserves, baking, and canning.
AU Producer has a moderately vigorous, compact growth habit, making it an excellent choice for both home orchards and commercial plantings. The tree is self-fertile, so you can enjoy a productive harvest from a single tree. However, planting another Japanese plum variety nearby can increase fruit production even further.
One of the greatest advantages of AU Producer is its outstanding disease resistance. It has shown excellent resistance to common plum diseases, including black knot and bacterial canker, helping growers enjoy healthier trees with less maintenance.
For best results, plant in full sun with well-drained soil and a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
