Afganski Russian Pomegranate Tree
The Afganski Russian Pomegranate is a favorite among gardeners for its dependable production, outstanding fruit quality, and excellent performance in the hot, humid Southeast. This vigorous variety consistently produces heavy crops of very large pomegranates filled with rich, flavorful juice that offers the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness.
The Afganski begins bearing fruit at a young age, often within two years of planting, making it an excellent choice for home orchards and backyard gardens. Its fruit ripens from late September through early October, providing a beautiful fall harvest.
Growing to a mature height of 10–12 feet, this attractive tree is easy to grow and well adapted to warm climates. It is self-fertile, so a single tree will produce fruit, but planting another pomegranate variety nearby will increase pollination and result in even heavier harvests.
