Purple Passion Asparagus is a unique and delicious variety prized for its beautiful deep purple spears and exceptional sweetness. With approximately 20% more natural sugar than traditional green asparagus, these tender, mild-flavored spears are so delicious they can even be enjoyed fresh from the garden. When cooked, the purple spears turn a rich green while maintaining their outstanding flavor.
This hardy perennial vegetable is easy to grow and makes an excellent addition to the home garden. Once established, a well-maintained planting can produce for 15–20 years, yielding 8–10 pounds of asparagus per 100 square feet each season.
Our asparagus plants are sold as one-year-old crowns and should be planted during the winter dormant season. Purple Passion is both cold hardy and heat tolerant, making it an excellent choice for gardeners across a wide range of climates.
