Jostaberry
The Jostaberry is a unique and flavorful fruit that combines the best qualities of a black currant and a gooseberry. This thornless hybrid produces glossy, round, plump berries with a rich, sweet-tart flavor and a pleasantly satisfying finish. Perfect for fresh eating, the berries are also excellent for jams, jellies, juices, syrups, pies, and baked goods.
A vigorous, upright-growing shrub, the Jostaberry begins producing abundant crops as early as the second year after planting. The fruit ripens in early July and is naturally high in Vitamin C, making it both delicious and nutritious.
One of the easiest berry plants to grow, Jostaberry requires very little maintenance and typically does not require regular pruning. It is cold hardy, disease resistant, and adapts well to a wide range of growing conditions, making it an excellent choice for home gardens.
Mature Size: 4–6 ft. tall and wide
Ripens: Early July
Sun Requirements: Full Sun to Partial Shade
Zones: 3–8
We do not ship Jostaberry plants to North Carolina.
