The Lang Jujube Tree is an attractive, easy-to-grow fruit tree that produces unique, pear-shaped fruit about 1½ inches long. The fruit ripens from early to mid-season, developing a rich reddish-brown color. Enjoy it fresh while crisp, or allow it to fully ripen into a sweet, chewy treat with a texture similar to a date—earning jujubes their nickname, the “Chinese Date.”
Lang has a more upright growth habit than the Li Jujube and adds beauty to the landscape with its graceful form and distinctive zig-zag branches. It is self-fertile, but planting it with a Li Jujube will increase pollination and produce heavier crops.
Jujube trees are exceptionally hardy and among the easiest fruit trees to grow. Once established, they are highly drought tolerant, naturally resistant to most pests and diseases, and thrive in long, hot summers. Mature trees typically reach 15 to 20 feet tall and perform best in well-drained soil with half-day to full sun.
