Elderberry Plants (Adam & John Pair)
Grow your own nutritious elderberries with this productive pair of Adam and John elderberry plants. These vigorous, cold-hardy shrubs feature attractive glossy green foliage and produce large clusters of fragrant white flowers in spring that are loved by pollinators. The blossoms can be harvested for teas, syrups, fritters, and homemade wine, or left on the plant to develop into abundant clusters of flavorful berries.
By late summer, the flowers give way to large clusters of dark purple to purplish-black elderberries that are naturally rich in Vitamin C and prized for making jams, jellies, juices, syrups, pies, wines, and other homemade treats. Cultivated elderberries offer larger fruit and more consistent quality than wild varieties.
We offer Adam and John together as a pair to ensure proper cross-pollination and maximum fruit production.
Adam Elderberry produces soft, dark purple berries with an intensely rich flavor and aroma. It is one of the most popular elderberry varieties for jams, jellies, juices, and wines. White flower clusters appear in spring, followed by heavy crops that ripen in late August.
John Elderberry produces enormous clusters of large, sweet, purplish-black berries that are excellent for fresh use, pies, preserves, juices, and homemade wines. This vigorous variety thrives in full sun or partial shade and tolerates moist soils better than most fruiting plants.
Elderberries are easy to grow, highly adaptable, and make excellent additions to edible landscapes, wildlife plantings, and home orchards.
