The Tamopan Persimmon astringent but can be enjoyed fresh if you wait until it is very soft.

The skin is shiny, reddish orange.  The fruit of this persimmon is extra-large, with an acorn-like cap. Excellent for cooking when firm or soft. This upright tree grows to 20-30 feet and spreads 18-25 feet. In autumn, its brilliant red-orange foliage brightens the landscape.   Great for fresh eating or made into a jam.

Self-pollinating.      Ripens in November. Zones 7-9.

This tree needs less than 200 chilling hours below 45°F.
