What does “bare-root” mean?

A bare-root plant or tree is one without soil around the roots.  Our plants and trees are either field grown or grown in a container.  Fruit, nut and berry plants are planted in the winter time while the plant is dormant.   When we ship bare-root plants we remove the soil and add a moisture gel around the roots to keep them moist.   The plants are not actively growing and no stress is placed on the plant.

They will be ready to wake up in the spring at their new home.
